As this is the home page and it should contain a brief but also useful information about the whole topic. So i will answer to some questions that my patients answer all the time till i have a better idea for this page.

Do i need denture adhesives?

Usually a good complete dentures are retentive enough without the use of any adhesives but some times and in a very selected cases you will need it.

So what is the cases that need the use of denture adhesives?

1- In the first days of denture wearing: May be you will need to use adhesives in the first days of denture usage to get more confidence and comfort but gradually you will learn to give it up.

2-Cases of unfavorable jaw ridges: Some patients suffer from insufficient ridge height, width or volume due to bone resorption. Bone resorption usually is a result of prolonged eating on toothless ridges or using an ill fitted denture.

3- Patients with abnormal saliva secretion: Saliva has a great rule in the retention of complete dentures too fluid or too viscid saliva will affect the denture stability and retention. Also diseases that can cause dry mouth will affect denture in bad way so it will be wise to use denture adhesives in this cases.

Can denture adhesives repair bad ill fitted denture?

nnnnnnnno  bad, loose or  ill-fitted  denture will need to get repaired or relined by the dentist and any trial to use denture adhesives with it will lead to temporary better retention but later more bone restoration will happen which will make it harder to manufacture another good denture or even repair the old one.
